NEW PROJECTS

     
(i) Development of Patiala as Counter Magnet under NCR Plan

      The erst-while princely state of Patiala is an important urban centre and has always occupied an important position in the State's history. The city being endowed with inherent strengths has been identified as one of the five Counter Magnets to New Delhi under the National Capital Region plan. As part of its efforts to develop Patiala as a Counter Magnet Town to National Capital Delhi, the Government of Punjab has constituted a special authority in the name of Patiala Urban Planning and Development Authority (PDA) on 3.5.2002, which acts as an independent vehicle for the development of the area falling in and around the Patiala city. Under the Development Plan of Patiala (2002-2022), PDA has undertaken the development of Integrated Township at a cost of Rs. 66.24 crores. An ambitious plan has been drawn up for the augmentation of water supply & laying sewerage in Patiala at a cost of Rs. 59.93 crores.

(ii) Development of Golf Course in SAS Nagar

      To upgrade the city level leisure, entertainment and sports infrastructure, the development of an international standard Golf Course with the state-of-the-art facilities at SAS Nagar (Mohali) is under way. The project will be implemented through public private participation.  

(iii) Development of City Centre, Sector-62, SAS Nagar.

      To cater to the requirement of commerce and industry in the region, a State of the art City Centre has been conceptualized in Sector 62, SAS Nagar. The master plan of the City Centre prepared by an internationally renowned architect Shri B.V. Doshi has been finalised. PUDA may start marketing the prime commercial properties in this sector in phased manner. The City Centre envisages to attract the best developments comparable to anywhere else in the world.  

       The City Centre is envisioned to be developed in Three Phases with the total developable land area of 244.38 acres out of which the saleable plots will cover 76.29 acres. The City Centre will have 74.17 acres under open spaces (including leisure valley and the rest of the area totaling 93.80 acres falls under roads. The Phase-I covers the total land area of 21.84 hectares and the proposed activities falling in the Phase-I of the City Centre are the central plaza, convention centre, retail shops, a super deluxe luxury hotel and the corporate office complex etc

(iv) Development of multiplexes

      In order to fulfil the growing demand for quality leisure and entertainment facilities, a policy is in the offing for the development of multiplexes, which combines cinema going mixed with retail shopping, entertainment and commercial services. Multiplex development would further synergise real estate development in the State. PUDA has earmarked suitable sites for the development of such multiplexes in all the major cities of the state.  

(v) Health Care Infrastructure

      With an objective to create high quality healthcare in the State and at the same time provide world class healthcare facility to the residents in the Urban Esttes development by PUDA,  a policy for the allotment of land for the setting up of Super-Specialty Hospitals in Punjab is in place. PUDA has allotted five sites in Mohali to well known medical outfits for the setting up of Superspeciality Hospitals in various disciplines. The most prominent of these is Fortis Hospital in SAS Nagar which is a state of the Art, health care centre set up by the Ranbaxy Group at a cost of Rs. 200 crores. With a view to facilitate the setting up of world class healthcare facilities in the super-speciality categories in which these have not come up so far, fresh applications for the allotment of land for the projects have been invited.  

(vi) Projects in Progress

      Construction of Shan-e-Hind Gate and Martyrs Memorial at Hussainiwala, District Ferozepur has been undertaken to beautify the national entry point and to upgrade the memorial where people come and pay their homage to the martyrs

      Development of new sectors 76-80 at SAS Nagar has been undertaken. PUDA is making all out efforts to handover the possession of 3950 residential plots in these sectors to the allottees of these plots.
